Grab a friend and have lunch at your local British or Irish pub tomorrow at 12:30 EST for the Six Nations Rugby Tournament! What is the Six Nations Rugby Tournament you might ask? Well, it's like the World Series or Superbowl for Rugby (I think). The Six competing Nations are: Wales, England, Ireland, Scotland, France and Italy. Yes, other nations play rugby, but they're not included in this tournament; if you want to know more, check out Wikipedia.
But really, all you need to know is that Welsh, English, Irish, Scottish, French and Italian expats all over the world will be descending on their local pubs tomorrow, and every weekend through the end of March, while the tournament is being played out.
Other things you might want to know: Wales is the current title holder, and the tournament began last weekend. England, Wales and Ireland won the first round last weekend.
Be thankful that this year the Six Nations organizers have scheduled the games late in the day...the last few years you would have found loads of Brits (and at least one lovely wife - moi) sitting around the bar, eating proper English breakfasts, drinking beer, (said lovely wife was drinking hot chocolate - not beer!) at 7am EST because the games are shown live!
Matt and I have watched matches in DC and Philly at Fado's Irish Pub. If there isn't one near you, just call any Irish pub in your town and ask them where it's been shown.
The remaining Welsh matches are listed below - all times are GMT. Click this link for the full schedule.
Saturday 14th February: Wales v England (5.30pm)
Friday 27th February: France v Wales (8.00pm)Saturday 14th March: Italy v Wales (3.00pm)
I should warn you to be prepared to pay a fee...up to $20 to view the tournament. The bars and pubs are required to charge admission to view these games. But really, what's $20 when you might meet your very own Mr. Darcy? It could happen!
As you can tell, I'm hooked on British men! Though I didn't meet Matt this way, if I had known about Six Nations when I was single you can bet I would have tried...as it turned out Matt and I were destined to have our first date at a bar, but not until after we met on an online dating site. But that's a post for another day!
And no post of mine would be complete without at least one photo of the adorable Ms. Foo. Here she is with her Welsh dad in their Go Cymru! (Go Wales! in Welsh) rugby jerseys:
P.S. I somehow missed that yesterday I published my 100th post! Yahoo! Congrats to me!

Oh, my gosh, this is too funny! You crack me up, Christy. I have to say, if I were single, I'd be taking your advice. Love the Brits! One of my best friends is engaged to a man w/ a British accent and he can say ANYthing and make it sound good.
Congrats on your 100th post! Woo-hoo! You're off to a great start. :-)
P.S. I love chocolate-covered pretzels, too. Yum.
Congrats on your 100th post! Lovely photo!
Well you are certainly going to have to expand on how you and Matt met now. I'm super curious. This post was pretty funny, too. I could see so many of my friends rushing off to take this advice! haha

How cute!! I love a British accent though I am married to a Texan, lol!
I wonder if I could just go and listen to them talk, seeing as I'm married and all? :) I so love a Brit (and Irish, but I digress) accent. Chris and I are watching the old Buffy the Vampire Slayer series now and I get pouty every time they leave out Giles or Spike from an epi. :)
Cute post and very cute pic!
How funny! I agree with the others - a British accent is great. :) Have fun & happy v-day!
Love the jerseys.
Thank you all - I would just love to know if this post inspired anyone to go view the game yesterday! Go Wales - they won again! Woo-hoo!
I bet you and your hubby were "chuffed" about the results. Did your hubby notice you spelt Wales wrong in his native language (Cymru) - its ok no one else would have noticed.
By the way my sister checked out your Welsh Rarebit recipe.
Heather - we were very chuffed indeed! And thank you - I hate spelling mistakes and he hadn't noticed... did you sister make the recipe we have posted? I'd love to know if she liked it!
for a second I thought I was too late again but alas I have more chances. thanks for this.
Jessica the game next week is even better for you - 12:30pm west coast time!
LOL!!! Love it :) In fairness black labs are much less work than British men, but like you I have both too :)
Oh you are a riot! I go to the local Irish pub every Friday night and meet Englishmen/Welsh/Scottish/Irish and our little formula always seems to have us in conversation with handsome men fro the UK. Cider helps. There is satellite there, so there is always a cricket, rugby or soccer match on. Life is goooooooood! I am going to Wales this October, then to England to see family, looing foreward to it already.cheerbleeder@yahoo.ca I put my email because I do not have any LiveJournal account or anything, either way CHEERS!
Anonymous - glad you enjoyed this post! And how fun your Friday nights sound! All single girls should do that, in my humble opinion!

I married a cute British guy! Our first date? At the pub, watching rugby, of course!
